Real Estate Philosophy
Bev Knight is a former business consultant and
small business owner. Because of her
background, her philosophy in real estate is to serve as
a consultant, not a sales person. That means she
really listens, takes the time to truly understand her
clients' needs, finds them what they want -- whether
it's a home or a buyer, and the result is happy
homeowners. Her greatest gift is her ability to
solve problems, and that may be the skill her
clients appreciate most about her.
In addition, her background in web design and
marketing allow her to promote listings and gather
information far beyond the norm. She lives in
Gainesville on Lake Lanier, and she specializes in
property on the lake. She can serve as either
a listing agent or a buyers agent, and she would love to
talk to you today.
Early Days
Bev
Knight grew up in Tucker, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta,
and her family always had some type of property on Lake
Lanier, from floating houses (no longer allowed) to
house boats.
Her dad was a surveyor / landscape architect /
developer, so her childhood was filled with the housing
industry. Her first real job was selling real
estate for Barton & Ludwig (now Coldwell Bankers); but
at the time, the interest rates were so high that very
few houses were being sold; so, she went back to the
University of Georgia and earned her business degree in
Information Systems. She spent many years in the
software industry performing a variety of tasks; and, in
time, went into consulting. She helped software
and communications companies set up training, documentation, product
marketing, usability studies, testing, product design
and much more. Eventually, she opened her own
firm, BGK Design Services, where she assisted small
businesses with web design and marketing.
Throughout that time, she always kept her love for the
housing industry and followed the market closely.
Back to the Lake
Once her children went off to college,
she and her husband moved up to their dream home on Lake
Lanier (in the hopes of giving the kids a reason to come
home more often...which worked!) She fell in love
with the area and started investing in lake property.
Her love for real estate eventually caused her to, once
again, get her license and go back into the industry
where she started her career. Now, she is a
specialist in lake property, loves it, and she uses her marketing
and web background as a tool to get the word out about
her properties. She does not consider herself a
salesperson at all. Instead, she is a
problem-solver, and her clients appreciate the
distinction between those two approaches.
Family
Bev
is married to Tim Knight who is the principal broker for
Trivest Real Estate, a commercial real estate company
that specializes in land and retail developments.
He and his partner did virtually all the land
transactions and outparcel leasing for the Mall of
Georgia. The Knights have two wonderful sons, Matt and
Chris. Matt just graduated from Davidson College
in Charlotte, NC where he played baseball (pitcher) and
majored in Economics and Spanish. He is starting his career in commercial real estate in
Atlanta. Chris is still in school at Georgia State
where he has a double major in Finance and
Entrepreneurship. He is also an officer in Sigma Nu, his beloved fraternity. The whole family loves
spending time on the lake. You might find them wakeboarding, knee-boarding,
tubing, boating, or just floating in a cool cove
on a hot day listening to the Braves. They love to
have parties, and their house is often full of friends
and family.
In her spare time, Bev Knight likes to
dance, especially line dancing and salsa. She is also active
in her church where she started their web site and
sometimes teaches Sunday School. An avid reader,
she helped to start a book club in her neighborhood.
She loves people, enjoys real estate, and works very
hard to make sure that her clients' needs are served.
